Often times folks want to set out on a body building routine, and although they have the best of intentions with respect to building muscle or toning up their physique, the way in which they approach the entire process is often times not well thought out or even correct for that matter.

In this series of body building articles, Sport and Supplements will aim to provide some insight into where and how to embark upon this journey of body building, whilst additionally aiming to provide some guidance within the incorporation of specific body building supplements that can help achieve the goals that the individual has. In having mentioned the issue of goals, this is exactly the right starting point before even lifting a single weight or picking up a nutritional supplement.

body-building-1.jpgOften times one may have the desire to begin body building and dream of an ideal physique in terms of muscle tone, and actually well being in terms of one’s overall health too. Putting this dream into reality will firstly take a commitment to the activities and workouts required within the body building process, as well as specific choices in terms of lifestyle and habits, which will maximise the chances of achieving the goals laid out.  Body building does not necessarily mean that one has to achieve the size of a world champion body builder, but also refers to those that wish to tone their physique, lose some weight and also for those looking to improve their general fitness levels and strength too. This is where the issue of goal setting comes to the fore, in that one has to decide as to what their goals are within the overall subject of body building.

The process of setting goals requires that one is realistic and achievable goals and objectives should be set and preferably written down so that one has the opportunity of referring back to them at any given time. We have to realise that the upcoming bodybuilding efforts will not manifest overnight, or even within a couple of weeks, rather these goals will take a while to achieve, of which will require a constant and consistent effort within the gym as well as within specific eating habits and lifestyle choices. It is also recommended that a steady program be followed in order to achieve the goals that have been decided upon, of which can take anywhere from three to six months at least. Knowing this before one sets out also allows for a mental preparation and acceptance for this process in achieving the desired results.

So to summarise, one has to sit down and decide whether body building is for them, and whether their current state of health can support such an initiative, as well as where they wish to be in 3 to 6 months, and whether or not they are prepared to make the necessary adjustments, commitments and effort in achieving these outcomes, together with a suitable bodybuilding plan.

In our next article Sport and Supplements will be providing details on what may be termed as Phase One of the body building journey, and a link will be placed below this once it is published.
