In so far as running is concerned, the training individual can devise a program that increases the amount of running within a progressive perspective, by adding longer distances or additional laps when training on a track and thereby increase the intensity of the running program. Alternatively high altitude running allows the trainer to develop a higher lung capacity based upon the scarcity of oxygen within the air at higher altitudes.
